Give me Jesus

There is a song that has been dwelling in my heart today, by Fernando Ortega called 'Give me Jesus'

In the Morning when I rise
In the Morning when I rise
In the Morning when I rise
Give Me Jesus.

When I'm all Alone
When I'm all Alone
When I'm all alone
Give me Jesus.

Give me Jesus
Give me Jesus
You can have all the world
Give me Jesus.

I'm weary.  It's been a long year of struggle and trusting and praising and longing and calling Satan out and resting in the sovereignty of God.  And ya'll, I'm weary.  But I choose trust.  In the midst of trials, I choose trust.  In the uncertainty, I will choose trust.  And in choosing trust, I choose Jesus.

Daily, I choose Jesus.  As my bread, as my portion, as my grace, as my strength, as my mercy, as my HOPE.  I choose Jesus and I rest in HOPE.  Jesus has saved.  Jesus has loved.  Jesus has overcome.  Jesus is my Jesus and my hope and I will trust.

After dinner today, I was sitting listening to my kids play and Asher who was playing with his legos..  I hear him start to pray.  As he was playing.  I hear this..

Dear Jesus, Thank you for today.  And please help me to get this pieces apart.  Thank you.  Amen.

And I came undone.  Because at 5, my boy was asking Jesus to play with him, to help him and with assurance and confidence, my boy prayed for his legos.  It's simple.  Really.  to pray and to trust because God is God and he cares about little boys who play legos and so he cares about moms who struggle and families who face trials and his faithful believers - certainly he cares about them too.  And Job, oh how Job lost so much and he was angry and he struggled but God loved him and Satan didn't win and God cares and we pray because it's Jesus really that we want.  Not this world.  This world has little to offer compared to the riches and the glory and the fullness of knowing and being loved by Christ Jesus.

So, give me Jesus.   today and tomorrow and the days after that.  Just give me Jesus.
